CHRIS WELLS: ATLANTIC

Atlantic is a collection of tracks that represents Chris's musical influences from an early age, and comprises a mixture of cover songs by some of those composers and artists alongside original instrumentals. Amongst the tunes on the album are Miles Davis's immortal “Milestones”, Earth Wind & Fire's “That's The Way Of The World”, (the band's national anthem according to founder Maurice White) and from Brazil there are versions of Ivan Lins's “Love Dance” plus “Sim ou Não” (Yes or No) by Djavan.

The core ensemble comprises Chris's Azul bandmates (and long-time associates) Charlie Wood on Hammond B3 and acoustic and electric pianos, and São Paulo trumpeter Walmir Gil, alongside Guto Lucena on saxes and flutes. Vocals were performed by Valdo Silva (“Sim ou Não”) and Greg Manning who contributed a special arrangement of “That's The Way Of The World” to the project.
